Hello Parents and Students! Welcome to 5th Grade! My name is Elizabeth Glover and I have been a teacher at Tryon Elementary School for the past 9 years. I spent 7 years teaching 4th grade and am currently starting my 3rd year teaching 5th grade. I am looking forward to sharing the knowledge and skills you need to have a successful 2012-2013 school year.
I am originally from Pennsylvania and moved to North Carolina in 2003, when I started my teaching career for Gaston County Schools at Tryon Elementary. It is important to me that you enjoy coming to school, feel safe and comfortable, and always do your best to learn, share, and understand each other, as we are a family and the classroom is our "home away from home."
I graduated from the University of Maine at Fort Kent with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and French. Oui, je parle Français! (Yes, I speak French!) I might even teach you a few french sayings this year. I taught Pre-K for a year in Pennsylvania at The Goddard School, before moving to NC. In 2009 I received my National Boards and was Tryon Elementary's Teacher of the Year. Teaching runs in my family, and I am so blessed to be doing what I love most everyday. There is no other place I would rather be then in the classroom sharing my knowledge to help you grow as a learner at the "Purrfect Place to Learn!"
My family is ever growing...I have wonderful parents, 5 sisters, 6 brother-in-laws, 11 nieces and nephews, and an amazing husband. Travis and I married in June 2010 and honeymooned on a cruise to Alaska. He is a firefighter and visits my classroom often, especially during Fire Safety Week. We love to travel and spend time with our families and friends.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns throughout the school year. You can contact me through notes, email, or by phone from 7-7:45 am or 2:30-4 pm. Thank you and I look forward to working with you this year.
